Awakening acted as a portal into Ferguson’s solo exhibition One-man Freak Show show at Public Pool Art Gallery in Detroit, MI 2017. The piece consisted of an identical replica of the unique alley entrance into the art gallery. The constructed copy was placed directly within the existing entrance, forcing visitors to experience entering the art space twice.
Every detail was copied; T1-11 siding, mint green paint, concrete ramp, light fixture, graffiti on panel, steel door and mail slot, every flier, scuff, and partial piece of tape was carefully recreated.
